A fun resort in Whalen, Minnesota near the Root River. Biking, kayaks, volleyball, lawn games, and interesting walks into Whalen, a cool small town with a delicious pie shop. Near Lanesboro, another nearby town with good ice cream shops and antique stores. Nice, large cabins with friendly, hospitable resort owners.

My son and I went down to Cedar Valley March 17 to March 20 for some catch and release trout fishing. This was a last minute decision as our Lake of the Woods trip was canceled due to ice conditions. The fishing was tough this week, but we did end up catching and releasing 4 trout (1 rainbow, 1 brown and 2 brook). We saw, just couldn't get them to bite, well over 200 trout. So much fun. There are tons of creeks in the area. The owner of Root River Rod Co., shared a ton of Intel with me and set us up with local, handmade flies. What an amazing place Cedar Valley is. The grounds are perfectly manicured. The views are stunning settled into bluff country. The river is a quick walk from every cabin and you can hear it which brings a level of calm and tranquility. We stayed in Bear, and the place was massive and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, the fireplace was used daily, and the porch was perfect. The kitchen has all you need. And, everything was ultra clean. No deferred maintenance anywhere on the grounds. If you enjoy wildlife, it abounds. We saw deer everyday. Bird feeders are always full and active sunrise to sunset. The owner, John, was a top notch host and super helpful, as the the rest of the staff. We absolutely loved Cedar Valley and it will now become an annual trip.

The Owners ROCK!!! Me and my family stayed in the Bear Cabin which had plenty of space beautiful wood walls we loved the wood kitchen table.The grounds are so relaxing.The deer would walk right up to the window every morning,we were able to see all the native birds feasting at the bird feeders outside the cabin.A very relaxing atmosphere. A great place for a family outdoor vacation, Church retreat,they have a event center for Weddings,Party's etc AWESOME PLACE!!!!! If you are reading this BOOK THE CABIN!Lol

We rented the Loon cabin for our family Christmas this year and we had the best time!!!! The cabin is so beautiful and it was decorated very cute for the holidays! They even had a Christmas tree up for us!! The accommodations at this cabin are perfect and it’s so cozy!!! In fact, I would have to say it was the nicest cabin we have ever stayed at!! Even the sink in each room is a brilliant idea and came in very handy for all of us!! The owners are soo friendly too! The onsite office has a little gift shop that has some super cute things .. hats, sweatshirts, T-shirt’s, etc. We absolutely LOVED our stay there and will definitely be back again!!! ❤️

Cedar Valley Resort is beautiful. Our group appreciated the attention they give to so many details. Bird feeders are filled, flower beds are pruned and weeded, we had all that we needed in the kitchen, everything was in order, kayaks were really nice, lawn was lush, and location was perfect.

We love it here! This is our second year visiting and we'll be back next year! Beautiful grounds, plenty of green space and very comfortable cabins. We love tubing and kayaking on the Root River. Very relaxing atmosphere.
